It happens to the best of us. What Protomen lyrics have you or your friends misheard?
This one isn't mine, but my mom's. She thought 'My father's battle will be won!' was 'My father's building will be done!' |

Back when the Breaking Out demo was released, I though that "feel the wind pick up" was "feel it with me, girl". |

| Kind of minor, but until the album came out I thought "there's something wrong here" from Breaking Out was "there's something wrong with the air". I sometimes still sing it like that, just because I'm so used to using that lyric instead. |

| The part in 'Breaking Out': "I can't hear nothing but the static. For years now, there's been nothing but the static on the radio!", I thought was, "I can't do nothing but hold steady. Oh yeah, I can't do nothing but hold steady, turn up the radio!". Haha. |

Hahaha, not really a misheard lyric... but in Breaking Out I never really knew what Panther said near the beginning so instead of saying the true line "I am, I am ready" I would say "I don't know what he says here".
It actually works quite well... XP |

Heh, that does fit the rhythm pretty well!
I usually mishear (or just can't make out) lyrics quite a bit, but with the Protomen I always had the lyrics close at hand from the start. But this reminded me of a weird mishearing my dad did of the Megas instead.
I was playing one of their albums while we were making a 4-hour drive, and on Lamentations of a War Machine, after the "Tell me Doctor, tell me Doctor, was I right?" line had played a few times, my dad sounded very confused when he asked me "What's he saying? Tell me don't curse?!"
...the absolute best wrong lyrics I've ever heard though, which have nothing to do with the Protomen but I just have to share it now, are always from my father-in-law. One time he was talking about how much he liked Queen and proceeded to bust out with total conviction: "WHO... will... WHO... will... ROCK ME! |

HAHAHA. Speaking of non-Protomen misheard lyrics... My brother told me and my Mom the other day that in the song "Rock Me, Amadeus" he thought they were saying "hot potatoes" in stead of "Amadeus".
AND EVER SINCE HE SAID THAT ALL I HEAR IS THEM CHANTING "HOT POTATOES". |

realllly minor ones: "Everything that I've done I've done for you... but let's turn that around" (which didn't make any sense, so I listened more closely) Also, he sounds a bit like he's singing "water have I done" instead of "what" ;)
Also, "this city... she's been there for years now". |

Oh yes, I forgot that one. Even though I know it's wrong, even when I'm staring at the lyrics right in front of my face I keep hearing it. |

I thought that until you said that. I don't know how I missed that, I read the booklet the first couple times I listened to it too. Wow. |

| In Light Up the Night, when Light sings " It's like they gathered up the city", I used to hear, "It's like the god of the city". I don't know why I thought it was that though xD; |

Another one: immediately after that line, when Light says "light it up". I always misheard it as him saying "Emily", calling out to his lost love. In fact, I was a little disappointed when I got the lyric book and found out what the line actually was. |

I think it is 'Emily' in the album and 'Light it up' live, really. I TRIED to hear 'light it up' and couldn't. |
