Hello, newly converted soldier here. It was thanks to Brentalfloss that I was turned on to this enigmatic band, and I've been pondering what's next for the plight of Light, and I thought of some elements:
Firstly, we know it has to be a sequel to the original. There really can't be an interquel between II and I because nothing much happens in those 12 (?) years since Joe's death and Proto Man's construction. Light finds a way to be concealed and builds his first son in his free time, and that's it.
However, the ending of the first album is pretty conclusive. Those who wanted to see change were eradicated and the one being who could do something turned his back against those who he wanted to free. and there's the silver lining. Mega Man is not dead. He simply left the chaos.
My thought is that Light builds a robot only to serve, designed to listen to his thoughts as he lived the last few years of his life. Taking old pictures and recordings of his beloved Emily, he constructs a worker robot with a personality: Roll Stanton.
Soon, Roll stumbles upon the blueprints (or perhaps the fragments of them) and questions Light, but her creator says nothing. She then leaves to go ask about who these robots were. She stumbles upon another doctor - Cossack, who was an old commander for Wily's. He remembers the massacre and tells her all about it. While not rebellious, Roll still wants to know more. Designed as a top-notch hacker in case of emergency, she , with the help of Cossack, gets into the "Order Files," documents of events that have occurred that Wily wanted to keep, though not leak to the public.
When she finally understands, she notices that Wily sent out a small militia towards the direction where Mega Man was running away. She slips away to find Mega Man, wherever he could be. When she finds him, they have a confrontation where Roll tries to convince her brother that humanity needs someone. Mega Man, betrayed as he feels, denies that mankind can be saved and Roll tells him otherwise.
Meanwhile, Cossack struggles with his concealed status and tries to find refuge with Light. He tells Light that he told Roll about the massacre and Light loses it. He tries to find Roll's coordinates frantically, but Cossack ponders why Light feels so compelled to keep the truth away from Roll, something he wanted to stop Wily from doing to the public.
After a heaping amount of convincing, Mega Man decides to come back, but first comes across that militia mentioned earlier. Although they are some of Wily's most powerful (maybe Enker) he destroys them without a second thought; he's become unstoppable.
When they return, Light and Cossack come to an agreement about what to do. They formulate a plan and the four set out to destroy Wily. (This part is open for change, I'm just thinking of something to get to the conclusion) As they stand in front of the large building that was witness to the massacre years before, Mega Man obliterates every robot that comes in his way in seconds.
Right when he sees Wily, the unexpected occurs: One of Wily's best men takes Roll and, in a tearful goodbye, is literally ripped to shreds in front of him. In disbelief, Mega Man encounters an anger he has never felt previously. As another crowd gathers, Mega Man fires a blast that destroys the facility. He is coated in rage. The one robot he cared about had been taken away and eradicated by a man who had done the same thing to Light. He grabs Wily by the coat and beats the Hell out of him with his fists alone as Wily begs for mercy.
Just then, Light pulls Wily away from Mega Man and the two have a final confrontation (reprise of "The Good Doctor" maybe?). As soon as Wily has his last words, he feels the warm tear of a cold blade across his neck, just as he had done to Emily all those years ago. The people cheer and shout, they are free! They herald Light and Mega Man and are praised much like Wily was when he framed Light.
Light is given the control panel that Wily had and he suddenly feels something. A desire to control. All the contempt that he had for Wily was gone; but as he saw the people cheering, he sees that perhaps what Wily was doing was only overkill. The world is out of darkness, and into the Light; a Light that would watch over the city just as Wily did once before. Even though Light does more or less the same thing as Wily, the people are content, creating a "history repeats itself" scenario.
...At least, those are my thoughts. Sorry about the wall of text. |

| Never even thought of Cossack, that could be cool. I doubt they would do it, but there's something big from the games that never really came up in the music. When Megaman defeats a Robot Master, they become part of him. I think it could be really cool to see Megaman battling with himself with the essence of all of these robots inside him. (Or maybe just Protoman?) If Protoman became a part of Megaman when he died in his arms, that would explain the "You are the dead' line in an entirely different way. I seriously doubt this is the route they would go, and I think I will be surprised no matter what they decide, but it would be interesting. |

so i've finally decided to join the forums here after watching them for going on 5 years >.>
anyways, i only skimmed through the pages so if anything said is redundant, sorry, but im really hoping to see Act III tie into the rest of the megaman series'. i would like to see some rush and roll (mentioned several times) but id also like to see an allusion to sigma and perhaps the X series. that is, if indeed Act III will end the story.
as for the music, im kinda split between a few ideas. i like the metal idea but not quite thrashy or power, maybe orchestral metal or Dream Theater -esque prog rock... what? dont judge
or
futuristic rock techno stuff kinda like the music from P.N.03
storyline wise, im hoping for several battles, not just with wily, but with the robot masters and id like to hear mention of MM using their abilities and perhaps a major battle against several at once. also, hoping for one more assassin bot. its kinda a lot to put into one album, but if anyone could make a feature film length story fit into an hour long album its these guys.
the X tie in is just my wishful thinking that even if Act III does end the story that the protomen will have another series to tackle so we can have more epic music |

Last word on this was no X series; some of the bandmembers don't dig it. |
I talked to Commander late one MAGfest, and he was very upset about Megaman X. Something about the reactivity of the buttons like pissed him off. Apparently, "X didn't just go, you know what I mean?"
I have no idea what he meant by that. Furthermore, science empirically shows that Megaman X was the superior game franchise... also I hate the Protomen for not doing an X album... it would have been awesome (._.) |

He didn't like the playing style, if I remembered right; said it resembled a fighting game too much.
I'm not really a fan of the X series, so I don't care XD; I know Act III will be good! |

I feel the need to apologize in advance for this, and will accept whatever is thrown at me in punishment.
Can't remember where I first saw this (more apologies if I actually found it here on the forums and am simply reposting someone else's link) but I saw that it was a trailer for Act III and freaked out! After viewing the video there was both laughter and tears. Enjoy!

I can't remember. Is Zero only in the X series?
Otherwise that'd be interesting. Wiley built him, if I recall, so to see him rise up against Wiley and joining the humans could raise the question to Wiley, "If given the chance, why do intelligent robots with free will side with the humans? What is free will? What is being human?" |

Zero cameoed in the shadows at the end of a Megaman arcade game, but other than that he was only in the X series.
And yes, Wily built him. |

| look at it like this, before Act II, they did a ton of 80s covers, and Act II came out rather 80s sounding. They are covering queen now, so logically, act III will come out sounding rather Queen like, which would be awesome |

As much as I loved the original album, I actually found the second album more depressing and don't like it as much. That said, I did actually really enjoy the songs and the way Light/Wily played off of each other.
I honestly don't know what Act III will bring, and I fear it'll be even more depressing. I know there won't be a "happy ending", but I would hope it is a satisfying one. I really didn't come away from Act II with the same feelings I did after Act I. I also kind of missed the slight Westerny style it had at times, but I'm a huge fan of 80's music so that wasn't so hard.
Oh, and insofar as the X series goes.. I never really thought of it as being like a fighting game, and enjoyed X1-4. I loved the wall jumping and the frantic gameplay. All the games after X4 were disappointing.
The Zero series, however, reminds me of the Protomen story. Zero coping with loss and pain, the various betrayals and sacrifices made, and it, too, does not end on a happy note. If Act III was similar in atmosphere, I think I'd be fine with it.
That is to say, I don't mind if there isn't a happy ending, just so long as it doesn't leave me feeling unfulfilled, or like they couldn't come up with something. Either way, however, I'm sure it'll sound nice. |

I disagree. I found act 2 moving more than depressing.
Although for act 3, I could see Mega Man utilizing the copy ability as a song point (becoming like them/fighting fire with fire, so to speak).
Seeing this, Wily constructs his own set of robots to defend him as Mega Man struggles to decide what to do.
In the end, it's Mega Man vs 8 new Robot Masters, and all hope seems lost when he feels something wet splash over his face, and a shattering of glass. No flames erupt, nothing. Just a bottle. Then he feels something crumbling over head. More and more these sensations begin to startle him. He turns to look over his shoulder..
The people of the City are hurling rocks, bottles, metal, hunks of destroyed robots at the Robot Masters. They're finally valuing courage more than their own lives, and they are finally standing for themselves.
Mega Man, with renewed vigor and hope for humanity, continues to fight, knowing that his brother was wrong. And knowing one truth remains.
Even now, there is hope for man. |

Ok, One thing I'm hoping for can be explained in three words..........Keep Quiet...Redux. Now you may be thinking "Huh?", well to explain in the end of Act 1 MegaMan is outside of the limits of the city (like a certain biker we all know) nothing is persuing him....yet. But let's back track a little we already had Sniper Joe and the robot masters show up as villians, what other significant robot is there? The Yellow Devil.
The Sniper=One red eye
Yellow devil-One red eye
And I wonder what kind of robot would Wily have guarding the exit to his city?
But eh this is all guessing for me what ever does happen will still blow my mind |
