Good luck. There are very few bands that have the theatricality and the awesomeness of the Protomen.
You'll just have to ask yourself, what particular elements are you looking for Moar of? If it's dudes in helmets and costumes, there's, er ah, Powerglove (I'm not fond of them but some people are; I'm sure they're nice people I just don't really dig their music) and I've heard good things about Urizen (who have opened for Protoguys) but bands like this are scarce.
If you're looking for bands that sound like the Protomen, well not a lot of bands sound like Act I but there's tons that sound like Act II and most of them are from the 80s.
If you're looking for other bands that play music about, related to or from video games then you might want to look into The Megas, Metroid Metal, Rare Candy, Entertainment System or any of the other bands from Bitgen Gamer Fest or MAGFest or other kinds of these things. Unfortunately, the "scene" for this is mostly on the East coast (with the exception of the Megas who are literally from SoCal) so going to see these bands could get expensive.
If you're looking for other bands that play rock operas/concept albums, there are fuckloads.
But yeah, that's just a few ideas. |

Ghoultown is an amazing band. They played with The Protomen once. I think it was the Goon Anniversary party. Yeeeeeah it was cause I also got to see Calabrese there.
God, that show was so fucking good. I love those bands so much. |
